Alexandre Egorov (born 31 December 1954 in Saint Petersburg) is a Russian painter who is also known as a writer of haiku. His work draws on the Russian cosmists of the Silver Age, who held that the inner world of a human being has a cosmic nature and carries cosmic responsibility. He builds on the art of Malevich and Kandinsky as well as on the cosmist movement.
Egorov trained as a painter in the studio of Lev Ovchinnikov and as a graphic artist at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg. In his home city he worked as an animator at a studio producing popular science films. He was the first to design a Russian tarot deck, printed by Piatnik in Vienna in 1992, and the same firm went on to issue further decks by him, including the Russian Historical Tarot Cards in 1994 and the Fairy Tale Tarot Cards in 1995.
His paintings treat the experience that we are all one as a challenge: to create images that unite contradictions and reflect the harmony of the world. Working in oil, he creates a fairy tale about a timeless world without conflict between good and evil, expressing a longing for excellence. In 1998 he began practising Dzogchen in the lineage of Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, which he regards as deepening his understanding of that vision.
