Berry Bickle (born 1959 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) is a Zimbabwean visual artist who divides her time between Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Her work, which spans installation, video, photography and ceramics, explores the history of colonialism in the region, along with questions of totalitarianism and postcolonialism.
Bickle trained at the Durban Institute of Technology and at Rhodes University in South Africa. Her installations are usually mixed-media works that incorporate script; she labels this approach "Re-Writes", reflecting her interest in the act of writing and collecting words. She has worked closely with the Zimbabwean ceramicist Marjorie Wallace and has collaborated with the Peruvian artist Adrian Velasquez.
In 1988 she and Tapfuma Gutsa organised the Pachipamwe workshop, the first Triangle Art Trust workshop held in Africa. In 2011 she represented Zimbabwe at the Venice Biennale, a rare appearance for an African nation at that time. Her work has been shown at the Havana, Johannesburg and Dakar biennials, as well as in museums in Europe and the United States.
