Buck Taylor (born Walter Clarence Taylor III, 1938) is an American actor and painter best known for playing Newly O'Brien, a gunsmith turned deputy U.S. marshal, on the CBS series Gunsmoke, a role he held from 1967 to 1975. The son of character actor Dub Taylor, he was a gymnast before turning to acting and tried out for the U.S. Olympic team, though he did not qualify for the 1960 Summer Games. His first important roles came on television, in episodes of Zane Grey Theatre, The Outer Limits and The Monroes, and he later appeared in films such as Tombstone, Gettysburg and Cowboys & Aliens.

Taylor studied at the Chouinard Art Institute and, since 1993, has sold watercolor and acrylic paintings of cowboys, Native Americans and horses, many of them drawn from characters and scenes in the films and series he worked on. His images are issued as prints in several sizes, and he serves as the official artist for many rodeos and state fairs, designing their promotional posters.

In 1981 he was inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He is remembered both for his work in television Westerns and for a body of painting that returns to much of the same imagery.
