Carline Seiser (born 9 July 1960) is a German actress, painter and sculptor. She became known in the late 1970s through the science fiction drama The Hamburg Syndrome, in which she played the female lead, Ulrike.
Her father died a few years after she was born, and she grew up with her mother, two aunts, grandparents and siblings. Her mother worked for Bayerischer Rundfunk and an aunt taught drama at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Seiser was enthusiastic about the arts as a child, and encounters with paintings by various artists eventually led her to paint herself. Her shorter acting career is what made her known: she made her debut in the Tatort series in 1977, and a year later appeared in Diethard Klante's crime drama Lauter anständige Menschen.
In 1978 the director Peter Fleischmann cast her in The Hamburg Syndrome, alongside Helmut Griem and Fernando Arrabal. The film had little commercial success when it was shown in 1979, but over time it came to be regarded as one of the most intelligent German science fiction dramas, partly for its cast and the music by Jean-Michel Jarre. After filming she largely left cinema behind. She married the musician Konstantin Wecker in 1980, and the couple separated in 1988.
Afterwards she devoted herself to painting and sculpture, with exhibitions in Munich and Vienna. She also worked in theatre on stage design and costumes, and designed posters for theatre and film projects.
