Generoso Pompa (born 11 March 1952, also known as Gene) is an Italian contemporary painter. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1952, he has lived in Rome since 1962, where he graduated in mural painting from the St Giacomo Institute between 1995 and 1996.

He began his career as a painter in the 1970s, learning artistic technique by copying works of the great masters of the past. From the 1990s he has worked full-time, alternating surreal compositions with landscapes. What makes his painting recognizable is his relief technique, in which he uses a painting knife and brush to create three-dimensional oil paintings.

Pompa has taken part in more than 100 solo exhibitions and some 600 national and international art exhibitions, and is a member of the art association Cento Pittori via Margutta. His work has also been shown in public and private galleries and museums. In 2013 his monograph was published by Giorgio Mondadori, edited by Giovanni Faccenda, Vittorio Sgarbi and Philippe Daverio, and in 2016 MyArt appeared with a critical text by Daniel Radini Tedeschi. In 2014 some of his works were part of the set design for the RAI 3 programme GEO. He lives and works between Rome and Spoleto.
