Herr Seele is the pseudonym of Peter van Heirseele, a Flemish cartoonist, author, actor and piano collector born in Torhout, Belgium, in 1959. He is best known for Cowboy Henk, an absurd-humor comic strip drawn with Kamagurka and published in the Flemish weekly Humo. This strip made him a recognized figure in Belgian humorous comics.

After attending the Sint-Jozefsinstituut, he entered the Ghent Academy for the Fine Arts, where he completed his secondary education and spent a year studying sculpture. He then trained to tune and repair pianos in Wales and in Florence. In 1981 he began Cowboy Henk with Kamagurka, using the name Herr Seele for the first time. The strip has appeared in countries including the United States, France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Spain. In 1983 he started working for television with Sfeervol Bullshitten, followed by other shows such as Johnnywood and Lava.

His collection of early historic pianos, one of the most renowned in the world, contains more than 200 instruments and is housed in Ostend.
