Hugo Soto (Corrientes, 1953 - Buenos Aires, 1994) was an Argentine actor and visual artist, best remembered for the lead role in Eliseo Subiela's Man Facing Southeast. Although he became known mainly as an actor, painting and sculpture were an important part of his life.

Around 1972 he settled in Buenos Aires, where he studied painting for three years with Carlos Gorriarena. He joined the city's theatre scene and, after a first film role in La película (1975), grew more prominent on stage until he became part of the resident company of the Teatro Municipal San Martín. His film career took shape in the mid-1980s, with Subiela as a key director and his performance in Man Facing Southeast earning him the Silver Condor for best actor.

His sculptures and paintings were shown in galleries in the United States, Switzerland and Italy, and in 1983 he won the ESSO prize for wood sculpture. He appeared in films by María Luisa Bemberg and, in 1991, in Fernando Ayala's Dios los cría. He died in 1994 from complications of AIDS, aged 41. In 2004 the Centro Cultural Recoleta devoted an exhibition to his visual work, titled "Paisajes internos".
