Igor Vieru (23 December 1923 - 24 May 1988) was a painter from Moldova, born and buried in the village of Cernoleuca. The sources available give limited detail about his individual works, but they do outline his training and his public role in Moldovan art.

His father was an amateur painter, which points to a family connection with art from an early age. After finishing secondary school in the neighbouring village of Climăuți, Vieru studied art history and, to complete his education, enrolled in 1946 at the Fine Arts School in Chișinău.

In Chișinău he later became director of the fine arts museum, while also working as a painting teacher and contributing to several publications. His home in Cernoleuca has been turned into a museum where visitors can learn about his art, and a fine arts high school in Chișinău bears his name, a sign of the recognition he received in his country.
