Jim Lambie (Glasgow, 1964) is a Scottish contemporary visual artist whose work moves between sculpture, installation and painting. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art, graduating with an Honours degree between 1990 and 1994, and still lives and works in his native city.
His practice is known for colourful sculptural installations made from everyday modern materials, such as posters, album covers and household accessories. His most recognisable work is Zobop, a floor piece made of brightly coloured vinyl tape laid in concentric circuits from the edges of a room to its centre, which traces the architecture of the space and dissolves its hard edges. In 2005 he was shortlisted for the Turner Prize with the installation Mental Oyster.
Alongside his floor installations, he makes found object sculptures, wall works, paintings and films. He has also worked as a musician and DJ; with Norman Blake he formed the Glasgow band The Boy Hairdressers, which went on to become Teenage Fanclub.
