Lacey Brown
1985– · American singer-songwriter, producer, violinist and painter
Lacey Elizabeth Brown (born 1985 in Amarillo, Texas) is an American singer-songwriter who also produces music, plays the violin, paints, models and designs fashion. She came to wider attention on American Idol, reaching the Top 12 of the ninth season before being eliminated in March 2010.
The daughter of the pastors of a local Christian church in Amarillo, she led the congregation's college-age group, Venue. She learned the violin as a child, and her education includes the study of art. Her musical influences range from folk and country to rock, with names such as Patsy Cline, Joni Mitchell and Coldplay.
On the show, her performances of "Landslide" and "Ruby Tuesday" drew mixed reactions from the judges, although Simon Cowell noted that there was nothing wrong with her voice. After leaving the competition she settled in Nashville, Tennessee, and in 2011 released the EP Let It Go on the independent label LEB Records. Her voice was described as sweet yet unsettling, with a touch of Brenda Lee.
