Pascal Garnier (1949-2010) was a French writer, best known for his noir fiction. Born in Paris, he left school without a high school diploma and led a varied, nomadic life before deciding to start writing at the age of 35. His first book, L'Année sabbatique (1986), is a collection of short stories. Often compared to Georges Simenon, his books have been translated into many languages. The British publisher Gallic Books translated a dozen of his crime novels into English, and John Banville praised them in a review in The New York Review of Books. Garnier died in the Ardèche region in 2010.
His known career is in literature; there is no documented record of any painting activity.
