Richard Peduzzi (born 1943 in Argentan, Orne) is a French scenographer whose career has been developed mainly in theatre and opera. His name is linked to that of Patrice Chéreau, for whom he has worked since 1969 and with whom he has staged several dramatic texts by Bernard-Marie Koltès. Among their collaborations are the centennial productions of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Bayreuth Festival, conducted by Pierre Boulez, and productions for the Opéra National de Paris, including Alban Berg's Lulu and Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann, as well as Wagner's Tristan und Isolde at La Scala in Milan (2007).
Peduzzi also worked on film sets with Chéreau, such as La Reine Margot and Ceux qui m'aiment prendront le train. In 1976 he was nominated for a César Award for Best Production Design for La Chair de l'orchidée. From 2002 to 2008 he directed the French Academy in Rome. His sets are often built around large vertical masses that symbolise the dangers threatening the characters.
