Fondation Corboud
Liechtenstein · 32 works · 23 painters
The Fondation Corboud is an institution based in Liechtenstein, a small principality in central Europe. This entry does not make it possible to specify the town where it is located, the year it was established, or who founded it, so any detail not stated here should be treated with caution. What can be described is the character of its painting collection, which leans above all toward artists associated with French Impressionism and the movements that followed it. Among the works gathered are paintings by Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley and Berthe Morisot, the latter represented by three pieces, including Child among the Hollyhocks and Boats on the River Seine. Gustave Caillebotte appears with Garden at Trouville and The banks of the Seine, while Paul Signac is the most represented painter, with Capo di Noli, cerca de Génova, The Harbor at Concarneau, Saint-Tropez, Calm and Samois Study No. 8. Alongside them are works by Henri Matisse, Corsica, the Old Mill; by Georges Seurat, Massif figure in a landscape; and by Mary Cassatt, Sara in a Dark Bonnet with Right Hand on Arm of Chair. Pierre Bonnard, Eugène Boudin, Armand Guillaumin and Albert Marquet complete the selection. The group shows a preference for landscape, harbours, rivers and everyday scenes outdoors, with a clear focus on French painting of its period.
