The Kunstmuseum Solothurn, also known as the Art Museum Solothurn, stands in the Swiss town of Solothurn. It opened in 1902 with an display of the town's art, historical objects and natural history pieces. Around 1980 the natural history material moved to the Naturmuseum Solothurn, the building was remodelled, and since then it has shown works from several collections alongside temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. Its painting holdings cover old masters, Swiss landscapes from the 18th to the 20th century, Swiss contemporary art, and two donated collections: the Müller sisters' gift, focused on international art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and one of works by Max Gubler. Highlights include the Solothurner Madonna by Hans Holbein the Younger, and the Müller collection includes Goldfish by Gustav Klimt and Portrait of the superintendent Trabuc in the Hospital Saint-Paul by Vincent van Gogh.
