Madrid, Spain · 17 works · 10 painters
The Lázaro Galdiano Museum is located in Madrid, Spain, and is a state-owned museum with private origins. It grew out of the collection of the collector and publisher José Lázaro Galdiano, who bequeathed his Madrid residence, together with his holdings, to the Spanish state when he died in 1947. The encyclopedic collection covers a wide range of arts and techniques, and its paintings are led by Francisco de Goya, represented by works such as The Witches' Sabbath and The Threshing. Among the painters most visible on this site are El Greco, with three paintings, and Bosch, with two, alongside Juan Carreño de Miranda, Murillo and Antonio Moro. Flemish, Italian and British pieces, rare in Spain, complete the picture.
