The Dordrechts Museum is an art museum in Dordrecht, in the Netherlands. Founded in 1842 by a group of five collectors from the Dordrecht area, it holds paintings and other artistic objects spanning roughly six centuries. Its permanent collection is especially strong in Dutch Golden Age and Baroque painting, and it also includes a notable body of landscape art and nineteenth-century works. Among the artists featured in its online catalogue, Hendrik Willem Mesdag is the most represented, with In the Surf, None and Arrival of a Fishing Fleet. Eugène Boudin appears with La Place Ary Scheffer, Dordrecht and The Meuse near Dordrecht, and Albert Jacobsz. Cuyp with Portrait of a Young Man and Portrait of the Sitting Duck 'Sijctghen'. The catalogue also includes Judah and Tamar by Arent de Gelder, Mignon desires her fatherland by Ary Scheffer, The Port of Dordrecht by Johan Barthold Jongkind, and works by Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Anton Mauve, Willem Maris, Willem Roelofs and Henriëtte Ronner-Knip, among others. The museum moved in 1904 into a converted former asylum for the mentally ill, and further buildings were added in the 1970s. A new wing, completed in 2010, improved the display of temporary exhibitions and visitor facilities. Its programme covers Old Master, modern and contemporary art, and in 2023 it welcomed 87,067 visitors.
