Museo Julio Romero de Torres
Córdoba, Spain · 12 works · 1 painters
The Julio Romero de Torres Museum stands in Córdoba, Spain, inside the former Hospital de la Caridad, a building it shares with the Museum of Fine Arts of Córdoba. After the painter died in 1930, his widow Francisca Pellicer and their children bequeathed the works to the city, and the museum opened in 1931, with its current building inaugurated in 1936. It holds the largest collection devoted to this Córdoba artist. The rooms follow his career: poster design, family surroundings, women and nudes, society portraits, religious works and large flamenco-themed compositions. Among its best-known paintings are La chiquita piconera, Nuestra Señora de Andalucía, Cante hondo, Naranjas y limones and Poema de Córdoba.
