Schloss Weißenstein, also known as Weissenstein Palace, stands in Pommersfelden, near Bamberg, in Bavaria, Germany. Lothar Franz von Schönborn commissioned it as a private summer residence, paid for from his own wealth, and it was built between 1711 and 1719 from local sandstone, whose pale colour gave the building its name. Johann Dientzenhofer and Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt were among the architects involved. The Schönborn family still owns it. Its picture gallery holds Germany's largest private collection of Baroque painting, with more than 600 works by Rubens, Van Dyck and Artemisia Gentileschi, including Susanna and the Elders, alongside Renaissance names such as Titian, whose Portrait of a Member of the House of Farnese is also displayed there.
