San Giovanni in Bragora is a church in the Castello district of Venice, Italy. Tradition credits its founding in the early eighth century to Saint Magnus of Oderzo, and in the following century it was rebuilt to house relics believed to belong to Saint John the Baptist, its patron. Among those baptized here were the future Pope Paul II and the composer Antonio Vivaldi. The building's present look dates from a late fifteenth to early sixteenth century renovation that kept its basilica plan and added a brick facade in a late local Gothic style. Inside, visitors find works by Cima da Conegliano and Alvise Vivarini, beneath a timber roof with trusses. The origin of the name Bragora remains uncertain.
