The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) is located in the Houston Museum District, in Houston, Texas, United States. Its campus includes two gallery buildings, the Audrey Jones Beck Building, designed by Rafael Moneo and opened in 2000, and the Caroline Wiess Law Building, along with a sculpture garden, a library, a cinema and a café. The museum also houses the Glassell School of Art, founded in 1979, and two historic house museums, Bayou Bend and Rienzi, whose gardens and collections show decorative arts from earlier periods. Its International Center for the Arts of the Americas (ICAA) researches the art of Latin America and of Latinos in the United States in the twentieth century.
The collection, which numbers about 62,000 objects, spans many schools of painting. Among the older masters are Rogier van der Weyden, Hans Memling, Rubens, Canaletto and Francisco de Goya, while nineteenth- and early twentieth-century painters such as Renoir, Cézanne and Turner are also well represented. The museum's website presents sixty-three of its paintings, including Bouguereau's The Elder Sister, Gustave Caillebotte's The Orange Trees, Rubens's Leda and the Swan, Memling's Portrait of an Old Woman, Vincent van Gogh's Rocks and Piet Mondrian's Composition with Grid 1. Caillebotte, Renoir, Goya and Cézanne account for the largest number of works in that selection.
