Warsaw, Poland · 4 works · 4 painters

Łazienki Palace is a neoclassical palace in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw, Poland. Built on an artificial island in a lake, it began as a bathhouse and residence for Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski in the late seventeenth century, and later became the summer residence of Poland's last king, Stanisław August Poniatowski. Today it houses the Contemporary Art Centre in Warsaw. Its rooms keep stucco decoration and ceramics, and its interiors once displayed paintings from the royal collection. Among the works listed on the website are The Prince of Nassau Hunting a Jaguar by Jean-Baptiste Le Paon, and Allegory of Valor (Mars) by Marcello Bacciarelli, along with Esau and the Mess of Pottage by Jan Victors and Battle of the Imperial Cavalry with the Turks by August Querfurt.
