Bendición Sánchez is an oil-on-canvas portrait painted by Julio Romero de Torres around 1904, during the Modernist phase of his career. The sitter, Bendición Sánchez, also served as a model for other works by the artist, suggesting a long working relationship with him. The painting remained in the artist's family home until 1989, when the Junta de Andalucía acquired it together with the rest of the Romero de Torres Collection. In 1991 that collection was handed over to the Museo de Bellas Artes in Córdoba, where the work is now displayed. In 2002 the painting was restored by conservator Rosa Cabello, an intervention aimed at preserving its condition. As a portrait of a woman close to the painter, it offers a way to follow how Romero de Torres approached the depiction of women in the years when he was consolidating his style.
